The Wilkinson Original
OK, so here it is, the first guitar that I built.
The neck and all the hard ware are Epiphone.  I got it all from the Epiphone Gig Rig.
It's a cheap thing I didn't mind wasting. Anyway,
I made the body out of four pieces of poplar.

This is the neck.  It has a black finish on the back.  I sanded the finish off the face of the peg head.  I wood burned my initials, D W, into it and inlayed a luggage tag that I found in New York into it.  This is the neck that would latter be put on the small guitar found in the Guitars section.
Here is the body.  As mentioned earlier this is made of four pieces of poplar.  I cut each piece separately and then tried to glue them together.  This was not such a good idea.
I glued each side together after routing for the pickup and the rest of the electronics.

Here is the body glued and the neck posing for a semi- assembled shot.
I tried to carve the top quick and easy.  I now know that's not exactly possible.  I ended up with a very uneven, lumpy and ruff top.  I tried to make it like a Paul Reed Smith with similar treble cutaway and cut under the knobs.
Applying the primer.  I simply used acrylic paint and polyurethane for the clear coats.
Finished painting.  I wanted to tape off the edges so the bare wood could be seen. But I forgot to, so I painted a white stripe.  Once again, a bad idea.
This is the finished product.  One humbucking pickup, one volume, one tone, 22 fret, rosewood fret board and a stop tail- wrap around bridge.  The guitar didn't turn out good but I hope to use the design at a later point.
This guitar is a piece of crap.  So here's a tree falling.
If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it still kill all the little fury animals.
